Derrida wrote brilliantly about so many central thinkers of the Western tradition: Plato, Freud, Nietzsche, Heidegger and many more. "Who Was Jacques Derrida?" offers vignettes of these philosophers, giving a sense of their work, along with an account of what Derrida did with them. Often, Derrida gave a partial or misleading account of his philosophical influences, but he always did so in an interesting way. The struggle between him and his great predecessors is dazzling to watch.

Peace Corps Gang Rape: Volunteer Jess Smochek Says US Agency Ignored Warnings - ABC News
More than 1,000 young American women have been raped or sexually assaulted in the last decade while serving as Peace Corps volunteers in foreign countries, an ABC News 20/20 investigation has found.
Victims say Peace Corps counselors are doing great damage. "Just because someone has a drink doesn't give anyone the right to violate them," said Casey Frazee. "And they need to stop telling survivors that."
"When bad things happen, you say to yourself, 'How did I bring this upon myself?' and I think, unfortunately, Peace Corps is hoping you'll think in that direction, too," said rape victim Adrianna Ault Nolan.

Sitting At The Front Of The Bus | The Jewish Week
Israel Religious Action Center launches ‘Freedom Rider’ campaign
to ensure gender segregation not imposed on ‘kosher’ lines.Tuesday, January 11, 2011Michele ChabinIsrael CorrespondentJerusalem — Gratified though they are by last week’s High Court decision to ban “mehadrin” buses that separate passengers by gender, Israeli activists fear that the companies that run these lines will not always enforce it.
So they are taking it upon themselves to personally test compliance and are inviting adventurous tourists to join them.
The Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC) is about to launch a year-long Rosa Parks-inspired Freedom Rider program whose foreign and local female volunteers will attempt to sit in the front section of so-called “kosher” buses, which until now have been reserved for men.
